Mulligan Named to Joint Task Force on Illinois Immigrants
and Refugees

State Representative
Rosemary Mulligan, R-65th, has been appointed to the General
Assemblys Joint Task Force on Illinois Immigrants
and Refugees.
The
12-member Task Force will examine the needs of immigrants
and refugees in Illinois and make recommendations to the
General Assembly concerning those needs. Meetings are scheduled
to begin in late July or August. Members serve on a volunteer
basis and ar3 responsible for any costs associated with
their participation on the Task Force.
"Illinois
has always benefited from a large, diverse immigrant population,"
Representative Mulligan said. "They play a vital role
in many sectors of our economy, including agriculture, education,
hotels and restaurants, tourism, manufacturing, healthcare,
pharmaceuticals, and high tech and other industries.
"Its
in the best interests of Illinois and the immigrants that
they move quickly to become fully integrated into the economic,
civic and cultural life of the state," Mulligan added.
The
Task Force is to deliver its report to the General Assembly
no later than Dec. 31, 2003.
