Small Business Endorses
Rep. Rosemary Mulligan for Re-Election
September 12, 2008
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Illinois’ leading small business association, the National Federation of Independent Business, has endorsed Illinois Representative Rosemary Mulligan for re-election in the 65th House district.
“As a state representative, Rosemary Mulligan has been an ally for small business, particularly on tax and workplace issues,” said NFIB/Illinois State Director Kim Clarke Maisch. “Representative Mulligan will continue to fight to cut taxes, rein in government spending, and improve our economic competitiveness. In this race for the 65th House district, Representative Rosemary Mulligan is the right choice for small business,” Maisch added.
The current Illinois climate is tough on small business owners. Rep. Mulligan will join NFIB to find solutions to reduce the cost of doing business in this state.
On the NFIB/Illinois 2007-2008 Voting Record, Rep. Mulligan scored an 83%, supporting NFIB in its effort to fight the Gross Receipts Tax, changes in how employers use independent contractors and expansion of Family and Medical Leave to include “in-laws.”
“Now more than ever, we need to encourage economic expansion and job creation by promoting a climate that attracts and retains new businesses to Illinois,” Rep. Mulligan said. “By defeating job-crushing taxes on small business, reducing government spending, and keeping taxes low, we can strengthen our economy and provide new opportunities for Illinois’ small businesses to grow and create new jobs in our communities. I am proud to stand with small business and honored to accept the endorsement of the NFIB,” Mulligan added.
Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls.
NFIB’s political support is based on the candidate’s position and record on small-business issues. Rep. Mulligan’s endorsement comes from the NFIB/Illinois SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB/Illinois’ membership. The endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of the state’s small businesses behind the Mulligan campaign.
