Rep. Mulligan Awards Grant to Center of Concern to Help Seniors

September 22, 2008

Des Plaines, IL - Demonstrating her ongoing commitment to seniors, State Representative Rosemary Mulligan (R-Des Plaines) is pleased to award the Center of Concern in Park Ridge a $10,000 state grant. Rep. Mulligan was instrumental in securing the funding.

“For many years, the Center of Concern has provided valuable services to seniors in our community. They play a critical role in addressing a wide range of senior issues from counseling to transitional housing,” Rep. Mulligan said.

According to Center of Concern Executive Director Mary Schurder, funding secured by Rep. Mulligan from the Illinois Department on Aging will be used for senior support programs that help frail seniors and disabled individuals remain independent.

“This grant will help us to provide case management and intervention for at-risk seniors to address crisis situations. The Center also provides friendly visiting, telephone reassurance and other services to lonely and isolated seniors. All of us at The Center of Concern thank Rep. Rosemary Mulligan for her help with funding for this essential program that provides our senior neighbors with the supportive services needed to maintain their quality of life,” Schurder said.

“It is crucial that we continue to promote and protect the seniors who have contributed so much to the strength and vitality of our communities. I want to commend the Center of Concern for touching the lives of thousands of seniors each year,” Rep. Mulligan said.
